playground

Designed for Preschool Children

Our playground is not a generic outdoor space bolted onto the side of a building. It has been specifically designed for children aged 18 months to six years, with each element carefully chosen to reflect the developmental needs and physical capabilities of each age group.

Every piece of equipment, every surface, and every space has been selected with purpose: to challenge children appropriately, to keep them safe, and to make outdoor time genuinely enriching rather than simply recreational. We have invested in our outdoor environment because we know that what happens outside the classroom is just as important as what happens inside it.

What Children Develop

  • gross-motor -skills

    Gross Motor Skills

Running, climbing, jumping, and balancing develop large muscle groups and whole-body coordination. These are essential skills that support sitting still at a desk, holding a pencil, and concentrating on a task. Our playground provides ample opportunities for active movement in a safe, supervised environment designed to meet the developmental needs of every age group.

  • balance-vestibular

    Balance and Vestibular Development

The vestibular system underpins a child’s sense of balance, spatial awareness, and body control. Activities such as swinging, spinning, and rocking stimulate healthy neurological development. Our playground is designed with this in mind, because we understand that physical development and cognitive development are deeply connected.

  • tactile-development

    Tactile Development

Touch is one of the most important senses in early childhood. Our playground incorporates a variety of textures, materials, and surfaces to stimulate the tactile system and support healthy sensory integration. Children who have rich tactile experiences develop stronger sensory processing skills, better concentration, and greater comfort in a range of environments.

  • social-emotional

    Social and Emotional Learning

The playground is where some of early childhood’s most valuable social learning takes place. Taking turns, cooperating, resolving disagreements, and comforting friends help children develop empathy, communication, and emotional resilience. We create opportunities for meaningful free play because children learn some of life’s most important lessons from one another.

Enrichment Programmes

Beyond the core curriculum, Kangaroo Kids offers a rich range of enrichment programmes that broaden children's experiences and deepen their skills.

  • splash-programme

    The Splash Programme

Swimming is an essential life skill, especially in a nation surrounded by water. The SPLASH Programme is Kangaroo Kids’ signature swimming initiative, giving SKG learners structured lessons in a safe, supportive environment.

Led by trained instructors, children develop water confidence, essential water safety, and basic swimming skills while improving coordination, fitness, and self confidence. We aim for every child to leave with fundamental swimming abilities. One of the few preschool swimming programmes in the Maldives, SPLASH is offered free of charge.

  • caring-hands

    Caring Hands Club

This is our health, hygiene, and wellbeing initiative. Through engaging, age appropriate activities, children learn to care for themselves, others, and the world around them. From handwashing routines to understanding emotions, the programme builds lifelong healthy habits from an early age.

Each year, a dedicated Health Education Week brings doctors, nutritionists, and health and fitness experts to school to share their knowledge.

  • star-programme

    The STAR Programme

The STAR Programme is the youngest level of the Girl Guide programme, helping young girls develop confidence, leadership, and personal growth. Through enriching activities, community engagement, and character-building experiences, they build important life skills while making a positive impact on those around them.

The programme nurtures responsible, compassionate, and confident young leaders, empowering girls to thrive both within the school community and beyond.

  • pre-club

    The Pre-Cub Programme

It is the introductory level of Scouting for young children at Kangaroo Kids. Through fun, age-appropriate activities, it develops independence, teamwork, responsibility, and a spirit of adventure.

Outdoor experiences, community projects, creative challenges, and leadership opportunities help children build confidence, resilience, and responsibility towards themselves and others. It lays a strong foundation for lifelong learning, service, and personal grow

Alumni

Over the years, Kangaroo Kids has nurtured generations of young learners, creating a strong and diverse alumni community that extends across the Maldives and beyond. Our graduates have gone on to excel in a wide range of fields, including education, healthcare, business, technology, public service, entrepreneurship, and the arts.

While their journeys have taken them in many different directions, they all share a common foundation; an early learning experience that encouraged curiosity, creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. At Kangaroo Kids, we take immense pride in seeing our former learners grow into capable, compassionate, and successful individuals who continue to make meaningful contributions to their communities and professions.
