15 Habits of the Mind
We have identified 15 Habits of the Mind that are developmentally appropriate for young children.
We believe that introducing these habits from as early as two years of age through intentional practice and focused guidance helps children develop as thoughtful learners who can adapt, grow and thrive amidst constant change.

Our Five Pillars

1. Enrichment Programme
Learners participate in modules such as service learning, makerspace, project-based learning, coding and genius hour. Aligned with their interests, these experiences encourage deeper engagement and a richer understanding of concepts.

2. STEAM Theme Programme
Core concepts and themes are revisited throughout each stage of learning, allowing children to explore them through broader, deeper and increasingly complex experiences over time.

3. Language Programme
We follow a whole language approach that provides learners with opportunities to acquire, understand, interpret and communicate information effectively, helping them grow into confident communicators.

Through the ELPS (Experience-Language-Picture-Symbol) approach, learners develop mathematical understanding by connecting concepts to real-world contexts and experiences across disciplines.

This programme encourages learners to develop a wide range of skills through sensory exploration, creative experimentation with art materials, and investigation of processes, concepts and ideas.
Delivering through Fluidic Learning Methodology
Our Learning System is designed to remain agile and responsive to the ever-changing world children are growing up in. Recognising that every learner is unique, the Fluidic Learning Methodology provides flexibility in what children learn, how they learn and when they learn. It enables a seamless integration of digital and physical learning experiences while bringing together curriculum goals, learning stimuli, facilitators, individual needs, attitudes and innate strengths into a cohesive learning journey.

Dhivehi, Islamic Studies, and Quran
We are a school that holds Maldivian culture and values at its heart. Dhivehi language, Islamic studies, and Quran are integral parts of our curriculum, taught by specialist staff and woven naturally into the life of the school. We believe a strong cultural identity and a global outlook are not in conflict. They strengthen each other.
Language & Literacy
We use a multi-sensory, phonics-based reading programme that develops children’s reading, writing, and communication skills in English.
Children experience language through stories, songs, conversation, drama, and hands-on activities that make literacy feel alive and purposeful.
Dhivehi language development runs alongside this, ensuring children grow into confident communicators in both languages.
Mathematics
Mathematics at Kangaroo Kids is hands-on and discovery-based. Children explore number, pattern, shape, and measurement through physical materials, problem solving activities, and real-world contexts that make abstract concepts accessible and meaningful. We want children to feel confident and curious about mathematics, not anxious or passive.
Science & the World
From the earliest stages, we nurture children’s natural curiosity about the world around them. Science is taught through investigation, observation, and questioning, with children conducting simple experiments, making predictions, and drawing their own conclusions. We are building the habits of a scientist alongside genuine scientific knowledge.
The Arts
Creative expression is central to who we are. Children explore visual art, and movement throughout the week, developing confidence, imagination, and the ability to communicate ideas in many different forms. The arts also play a vital role in emotional development, giving children a language for feelings and experiences they are still finding words for.

Assessment and Progress
Assessment and Progress
We use ongoing, observation-based assessment to track each child’s development across all areas of learning. Regular progress updates keep parents fully informed, and our low learner-to-educator ratios ensure that no child’s growth goes unnoticed.
We do not use standardised testing in the early years. Instead, we build rich portfolios of evidence that capture the full breadth of what your child can do and who they are becoming. These portfolios are something families return to for years, and something your child will be proud of long after they leave us.

This programme is designed to support working families by offering learners a safe, engaging, and structured environment beyond regular school hours.
This optional programme provides learners with additional time at school to participate in meaningful play and continued learning, all under the care and supervision of our dedicated teaching team.
